State of Wonder

After attending the middle school art show, Celie came home inspired. As you know, art's always (thankfully!) been one of her favorite things--so when she mentioned she wanted to make a 'secret book' like the one's we saw last night, I thought it most appropriate to give her Ann Pachett's State of Wonder, a title that fits her current mindset.  

While the project was in progress, we talked about all the magical things we could she in what she was making.  It's an owl when you see it from this side!  It's a bumblebee when you flip it upside down!  Either way, such a better end than Ann's.  I wasn't ever going to read that book again--but now, I'll have it forever.
