Specifics

For weeks now, Celie's favorite book has been the Little Golden Picture Dictionary. To date, her vocabulary includes an incredible variety of words, from baby basics like "banana" and "bottle" to more obscure terms like "igloo," "rocket" and "kangaroo." And its not just nouns; ask her to "dance" or "what's the color blue" and she'll inevitably shake her booty and point to the sky. Of course, many of her words are more like specific sounds and effects, some only understood by us...but still: the girl knows language, and the rate of its expansion is exponential.

What I find most impressive, though, is Celie's ability to make connections, and that at only 17 months, she's already asking for specifics when it comes to definitions.  Watch out Merriam-Webster.
