With most of Louisiana watching the BCS Bowl Game, it finally seems like the last of the holidays. I say this knowing that Mardi Gras is about to begin, but still: it’s not until the first week of January that “the holidays”—Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Year’s, and my family’s favorite invention, FakeChristmas—are really over. I guess that’s why they must have invented Twelfth Night: a time to finally say goodbye to last year and hello to the next.
There have been so many things I’ve wanted to write about over the last month and just as many pictures to post, but I’ll admit: I’ve been tired. It’s one of those phases in life when just getting dressed seems like enough. Mike and I even postponed enacting our New Year’s resolutions until January 8th because starting on the 1st just seemed unreasonable. Also, my horoscope indicated that I would receive an extra boost of energy that day—at exactly 6:37a.m., in fact—so you can expect to find me bouncing around the house tomorrow morning as the stars align and my new year begins.
In addition to the usual promises of getting fit and staying organized, here are a few of my goals for 2008:
1. Buy better shoes and small clutch handbags.
2. Sign up for horseback riding lessons. (Next on my Life’s To-Do List)
3. Spend more time outdoors.
With my tenure dossier due this Summer and so little completed to date, I'd figure I’d focus my resolutions on fun—after all, who wants to resolve to do more work when doing so is one’s only choice? No, I believe resolutions should go toward achieving balance. And while accessories aren’t necessarily ‘zen,’ nothing rights me more than time to myself outside. Sun, sky, fresh air...and hopefully a horse that can’t sense fear.
